agreed at short notice to give a briefing on the Communications Bill to the Westminster Media Forum on Thursday 14th November at 4pm. It is to be held at 1 Great George Street, Westminster.
The Secretary of State will deliver a Keynote Policy Address and participate in discussion with a panel of notable players from the broadcast sector, the legal community and the City. She has also agreed to take questions from the floor. The event will be chaired by Austin Mitchell MP, Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Media Group. The timing of the event could hardly be more significant. The formal introduction to Parliament of the Communications Bill is expected to be announced the day before, in the Queen's Speech on 13th November. This session therefore represents a unique opportunity to hear the Government's latest thinking on key issues and to engage in discussion with the Secretary of State, senior Civil Servants, industry regulators, and others who take an active interest in the development of communications policy. Important policy announcements are expected.
