CMA provisionally finds Fox/Sky deal not in the public interest

23 January 2018 By CPBF Leave a Comment

Great news everyone!

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the UK regulator responsible for the current Phase 2 investigation in Murdoch’s Sky takeover, has provisionally found the the Fox/ Sky deal is NOT in the public interest.

This is great boost for our fight to #StopMurdoch’s Sky takeover, but we need to keep up the pressure to ensure that new Culture Secretary Matt Hancock reaches the same conclusion as the CMA because whatever the CMA say he still gets to make the final decision.

We also need to continue to push for Part 2 of the Leveson Inquiry (the investigation into crime and wrongdoing within the Murdoch empire, the rest of the UK press, and the complicit and corrupt politicians and police who assist them) goes ahead as soon as possible.

Of course, it is now quite likely that the Murdochs will offer some “guarantees” about keeping Sky News indepedent but history has shown that promises made by the Murdochs are utterly worthless and are not to be trusted.

The fight to #StopMurdoch’s Sky takeover is working but ongoing.  Please continue to contribute generously and to share the campaign widely!
